Asthma Resilience Workshop for Young People

These three-hour workshops are held in person at David’s office in Palma de Mallorca. This workshop is designed to help you understand the underlying causes of your child’s asthma and provides practical advice and breathing exercises to transform dysfunctional breathing habits.

"I understand how it feels to struggle with breathing throughout childhood. My asthma began when I was an infant and continued for most of my life, reluctantly managed with medication. In 2011, I started to uncover the factors driving my asthma and gradually integrated practices and lifestyle changes that transformed my breathing. I’m passionate about sharing this knowledge to help young people with asthma understand and transform their condition sooner rather than later."

In this workshop, you’ll learn about the basic biochemistry and biomechanics of breathing, and you’ll practice techniques to improve them. It’s essential that you attend with your child; transforming a child’s asthma requires support from the whole family.

David Ernest Cornwell

Led by David Cornwell, UKCP Psychotherapist, trained in MBCT at Oxford University. David has successfully managed his own severe asthma and will share valuable insights, practical tips, and techniques to support and improve your child’s breathing.

My Last Inhalers

I framed the last inhalers I was prescribed for asthma: a Ventolin inhaler and two strong steroid inhalers. These will be familiar to many of you. I began using similar inhalers before the age of three and never imagined I could live without them.

However, through lifestyle changes and a specific set of breathing exercises, I have transformed my respiratory health. I no longer suffer from asthma.

Notably, I no longer experience the allergies that used to leave me with a constantly blocked nose or hay fever. While I still pay attention to my diet, many foods that used to trigger asthma attacks—like butter—no longer cause any allergic reactions. I believe this improvement is because my body was once overwhelmed by layers of inflammation that my immune system couldn’t manage. Once the underlying causes were addressed, my system became far more resilient.

Another significant change has been in my stress response. I hadn’t realized how stressed I was, caught in a cycle that only worsened my condition.

In the picture frame, I’ve inscribed the words “In emergency, don’t break glass” as a reminder that, even if I face challenges, I now have the knowledge, skills, and practices to manage them.
